Brothers

Brothers is an intimate wildlife portrait celebrating the powerful bond between two male lions. Resting closely together with their faces gently touching, the pair reveal a quieter and more tender side of animals so often associated with strength and dominance. Intricate layers of pastel capture the texture and movement of their magnificent manes, while the closed eyes and relaxed expressions create a feeling of complete trust, companionship and peace. Emerging dramatically from the dark background, the lions become the sole focus of the composition. At its heart, Brothers is a portrait of connection, loyalty and affection — a reminder that strength can also be expressed through gentleness. Brothers received 6th Place (Tie) in Realism – Animal at the 2023 American Art Awards.
